The Public Health Agency of Canada estimates that each year about 1 in 8 Canadians (4 million people) get sick from the food they eat. Knowing the proper way to prepare food will ensure the health and safety of those who consume it. Since people put their trust in you to keep them safe, it becomes your primary responsibility to protect them against any kind of foodborne disease.
The TRAINCAN BASICS.fst 4th Edition is an employee-level safety certification course for food handlers. The course will allow you to learn important information about food safety and provide you with the tools to serve safe food. Any person in any sector who works with food should study BASICS.fst.

BASICS.fst Food Safety training gives you instruction from industry-experienced and certified food safety instructors. Boost your job prospects by adding relevant certifications to your resume and increase your knowledge to become a better employee.
BASICS.fst exams are offered in a wide variety of languages upon request: English, French, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Arabic, Farsi and Punjabi. If you require a bilingual exam in one of the other languages, you must make arrangements with the trainer two weeks in advance of the day of the course.
Individuals are provided with an English workbook on the day of the class. Arrangements can be made to pick the workbook up earlier if needed.
Important Note

This course is offered as a one-day (7 to 8 hours) classroom course followed by a paper exam.

The passing mark for the exam is 74%.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate and wallet card.

The certification duration is 5 years.
